Google launched Search Generative Experience to counter Microsoft's Bing AI advancements. This experimental version of the search engine enables you to get IA-generated responses and source links.

With Bing AI and ChatGPT, Google throws down the gauntlet in an effort to catch up to Microsoft. To that end, the internet's largest company recently announced the launch of Search Generative Experience, or SGE, on its blog.

Try the new Google search engine experience.

It's an experimental version of a search engine that uses artificial intelligence-generated answers. With SGE, the IA will respond to inquiries in a green or blue zone using natural language and add links pointing to the sources that it used instead of a list of links to websites, as with ChatGPT

It is possible to refine the responses by conversing with this chatbot. First and foremost, you must register in order to access SGE.

It is important to keep in mind that, at the time, the tool is only accessible to users in the United States and in the English language. However, much as with Bard, it is possible to be added to a waiting list.

Tools for experimentation

Once logged into your Google account from the Chrome browser, you must click this link to see if you qualify for this test version. There is a good likelihood that a notification stating that this program is not yet available for your account will appear right away.

However, if one is qualified, a Labs symbol appears, and by clicking on it, one may add their name to the waiting list. Similar to Bard, once the tool is accessible, a confirmation email is sent via Gmail.

As Google had stated during its I/O conference, further experimental functions are available in this "Lab." This is true, for example, of the code generator that is directly available from the search engine or even of the integration of the IA with Google Sheets.
