ChatGPT: The success of this new tool

In the space of a few months, artificial intelligence has invaded the media, digital, technological, economic, and even educational, artistic, and philosophical spheres, existential threat artificial intelligence would pose to humanity is co-signed by dozens of AI industry leaders, and academics, such as :

  • Demis Hassabis (the CEO of Google DeepMind).
  • Sam Altman (the Founding CEO of OpenAI).
  • Geoffrey Hinton and Youshua Bengio (AI researchers who won the 2018 Turing Prize, the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in Computer Science, for their work on AI), senior executives, and researchers from Google DeepMind and Anthropic.
  • Kevin Scott (Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft).
  •  Bruce Schneier (a pioneer in cryptography and internet security), and climate advocate Bill McKibben.
  •  Geoffrey Hinton told CNN that he decided to quit his job at Google and "speak out" about the technology after "suddenly" realizing that "these things are getting smarter than us."
No day goes without hearing about a new artificial intelligence (AI)-based system, with all the major publishers announcing the integration of IA-powered functions either now or in the near future, from Microsoft to Adobe, via Zoom or Canva

Many are worried today about the damage that AIs are already causing, particularly with the fake images and invented information that feeds social networks and screens with fake news more real than life, but also authoritarian excesses, such as the surveillance of mass and anticipatory arrests.

Already in March 2023, leading researchers specializing in AI published an open letter published by the non-profit organization Future of Life Institute to alert the world to the abuses caused by AI.
These recognized luminaries – such as Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, Jaan Tallinn, the co-founder of Skype, or even Yoshua Bengio, Stuart Russell, and Gary Marcus
AI figures – accompanied by various personalities – including Elon Musk, who has since turned around to develop his own AI, TruthGPT – asked for a break, proposing not to take anything out of the labs before having redefined rules to regulate the use of intelligence-based systems artificial.

The signatories were above all concerned about the risks that AI poses to humanity.
Should we let machines flood our information channels with propaganda and lies? Should we automate all jobs, including rewarding ones? alluding to the fake news that is already circulating abundantly on the Net and to the jobs threatened by AI.
