Google: Soon a New Generation of AI-Based Advertising

Google has recently unveiled its new project: the development of generative AI for online advertising. The goal is to create the perfect and ideal advertising campaign while targeting the intended audience more effectively.

Google: Soon a New Generation of AI

The search giant plans to harness the power of artificial intelligence to generate online advertisements. This idea has already been explored by Meta, which recently incorporated generative AI tools into its advertising, and Bing, which introduced advertisements into its AI chatbot, Bing Chat. Now, it's Google's turn to embark on this adventure by using generative AI to transform its indispensable search engine, Google Search.

With more than 80% of the company's profits depending on advertising, it comes as no surprise that Google intends to display a new kind of advertisement in the interface of the future version of Search, powered by AI. In a blog post published on May 23, 2023, Google provided detailed insights into how the search engine will be enriched with AI-generated ads.

Jerry Dischler, the Vice President of Ads at Google, explained that "the future of advertising will evolve" as "the future of search evolves." For Google, these two domains are inherently linked. The company aims to produce the best-personalized ads using AI, ads that are created based on what the user types in the search bar. Thus, the user's interests and preferences will be leveraged to generate highly targeted and customized advertisements.

Google states that these "relevant and high-quality ads" will be "customized at every stage of the search journey." The ads will be tested in the context of the new Google Search interface, which is being enhanced with conversational AI, over the coming months.

In addition to this, Google is introducing a conversational feature to Google Ads, enabling businesses to launch their marketing campaigns faster and more efficiently. Companies will be able to request AI-generated ideas for new creatives, as well as generate keywords, titles, descriptions, images, and other campaign elements.

In summary, Google is set to revolutionize online advertising by utilizing generative AI to create personalized and targeted ads. By leveraging its linguistic models, such as Palm 2, Google aims to enhance the online advertising experience and better tailor ads to users' interests and search queries.
